Twist Modern – 3D Furniture Selector + E-Commerce
Twist Modern is a modern furniture company that allows interchangeable design panels to create individual style at low cost. 3DAS, LLC was commissioned to help create a custom e-commerce furniture selector system that allowed the user to pick their own panels along with hundreds of renderings for each frame, panel, and cushion.
Research and Development
The e-commerce furniture selector system uses a Mix and Match system which allows one object to be layered on top of another object. In the video above, the chair frame is on the bottom layer, followed by the cushion and then finally the panel. Without utilizing 3D, it would be nearly impossible to line up objects this way along with keeping the same exact lighting conditions.
The Outcome
By opting to use 3D instead of photography, parts of the Twist Modern furniture perfectly matches and only required hundreds of layered 3d renderings. In contrast it would take thousands of photos to do the same. In the end, the client saved months of development time and costs were almost half of similar bids. Twist Modern is proud to share that their furniture is made in the USA. Pieces are handcrafted with mortise and tenon construction of solid, kiln dried Ash and Maple in Newport Vermont. Cushions are made in North Carolina and feature 100% Belgian Linen with Teflon coating for stain resistance, Cushion cores consist of down and fiber blend for extra luxurious comfort.
