The Task: Preview a Floor Plan Without Understanding Architectural Drawings
It has been increasingly common for our residential and commercial clients to not understand architectural drawings. How can a client understand their environment without paying the higher costs of VR?
The Solution: The Structural Walkthrough
Clients typically ask us for a “VR” to supplement their architectural drawings but the time and costs to create that experience is usually out of the budget. The 3DAS structural walkthrough delivers the experience of understanding their space without the time and cost to choose specific furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE).
The Outcome: Porter Del Ray
One of our projects was the amenity center at The Porter Del Ray in Alexandria, Virginia. Part of the remodeling was understanding how the partition walls would look along with the updated lobby, leasing, and clubroom areas.
By having the client and interior designers walk through the space with only seeing the essential elements (a structural walkthrough), it removed all the barriers of a typical “VR” environment. In turn, the interior designers could choose which views they preferred in the final marketing renderings. During the process, if there was any part that was unclear, a designer could easily walk through the space, take a snapshot and send comments back to other team members.
Below is the final marketing renderings along with the finished renovation photos. As you can see, the renderings are similar due to our 3D process along with the structural walk-through system.
