Asheville, North Carolina 3D Renderings
SoWE, the School of Wholeness and Enlightenment, is located just outside of Asheville, North Carolina. This spiritual education center, also known as the Mountain Jewel Educational Retreat Center, will provide a space for complete escape, focus, and personal expansion.
Spiritual Retreat Center
The Mountain Jewel consists of three main areas (from left to right): the dining area, event center and the auditorium. 3DAS was tasked with enhancing the architect’s 3D model and helping the team at SoWE develop the surrounding area.
Everything you see in the scene is 3D.
3D Design Process
3DAS converted the architect’s model (1st image) and added in general 3D landscaping and mountains (2nd image). Initial vegetation selections from the landscaping architect were then added to brighten up the rendering.
What We Learned
Cost Savings: Client decided to remove the housing at the top of the hill and reduced the lake in the foreground to a stream.
Design Aesthetics: Natural earth-tones reflect SoWE more than attentive colors. Minimalism reduces distractions while using the wood materials to make the building is faster and eco-friendly.
The Easiest Decision: All of the major decisions were made with the daytime rendering. This made the night scene an instant success needing only one minor change.
